A speech by Mr. Paolo Vettori, president of Assogasmetano, an association that protects and promotes methane and its distribution sector.

The registrations of CNG vehicles are doing well: after the 142% increase in December, which allowed us to end the year in a positive way (+5.9% compared to 2018), January and February 2020 show an increase of +106%. This means that the propensity of motorists towards this type of engine, when there is an offer of high-performance models, is intact, indeed, despite the “competition” of the hybrid (electric/petrol), which has increased and it is consolidating. The CNG distribution network in 2019 has grown by 80 plants and now counts 1,399 units. LNG distributors are also increasing in number reaching 64. The advent of bio-methane will do the rest to enhance the sector’s environmental benefits. The overall demand for CNG and LNG trucks was also confirmed with a 53% increase compared to 2018.
