L'era del biometano

At CNR Bologna Research Area, Plenary Hall, in Via Gobetti 101, the Second National Conference promoted by Legambiente on biomethane takes place on October 11th. The title: THE ERA OF BIOMETANO - The role of biomethane towards the goal of decarbonisation to 2050.
2018, explain the promoters, was the year of approval of the long-awaited decree for the promotion of the use of biomethane in the transport sector and the facilities for companies with high consumption of natural gas. A measure that, together with the definitive approval of the new package of European directives on the circular economy, can accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable consumption model.

In fact, biomethane not only lends itself to becoming a more and more strategic energy source in the transport sector and domestic consumption, but we believe it will play a fundamental role in the energy transition, offering important opportunities for re-launching businesses, especially agricultural ones, as well as a fundamental tool for combating climate change and waste management. And for this immediately it will be necessary to identify needs and make synergies in order to promote the development of an integrated and "well done" system. It will be necessary to support the commitment of institutions, companies, telling the best to consumers also the environmental and economic benefits that can arise, also in terms of new jobs.

The day aimed to tell not only the state of the art but also to make more concrete opportunities for companies and territories, starting from those entrepreneurial experiences already active and successful.
Space for the role of biomethane in the coverage of the country's energy needs, starting from its role in urban and heavy transport, but also in the sustainable management of biodegradable fractions (separated waste collection, agricultural waste, agro-industrial waste, sewage sludge, etc), to deal with institutional decision-makers and stakeholders in the production and distribution sector, facing critical issues, regulations and techniques in the supply chain.
