Two races for one anniversary
Ecorally celebrates Italy’s 150th Anniversary by passing
through places and roads that belong to the Unification of Italy

By now eco-friendly vehicles have become part of our global village and
it would not be conceivable to imagine a future without the use of
vehicles that are more ecological than those that circulate on our roads
today. But what is the true eco-car of the future?
A first answer could come by following the environmental message that
comes from the current environmentally sustainable mobility: the 6th
International Ecorally - San Marino - Vatican City is about to start and
is reserved to those vehicles that are powered by alternative energy.
The start of the event, which aims at demonstrating how eco-friendly
vehicles are current,
readily available and better-performing, will leave the Republic of San
Marino on Saturday, October 15th when the vehicles in the
race will depart from the fantastic scenery of Monte Titano and cross
Italy through to Rome – or rather, to the Vatican State and pre
cisely
– driving through characteristic areas
of the Romagna, Marche, Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio regions.
Therefore,
an “International” route for this 6th Ecorally, but also an
official regularity race on the FIA Alternative Energies Cup
calendar and an eco-gastronomic route to which even individuals with
their traditional vehicles - if green – and used on a daily basis, will
be able to participate even with their families,
including children. Obviously, all those participating will do their
best to pass the regularity tests, but everyone will have the same
chance of winning one of the many categories

The competition is under the patronage of the Italian Embassy in San
Marino and is included as part of the events that celebrate 150th
Anniversary of the Unification of Italy, as planned by the Italian
Embassy, however, it will not be a simple transition from one race
to another: the regularity race will be a challenge and the competitors
will have to follow the classic Rallies’ Road Book with path
checks, verification of the established average speed and of the
precision chronometric measurements. Not always skilled champions win,
even motorists struggling with the first steps with a stopwatch,
and perhaps even supported by their enthusiasm and
a bit of luck, can prove their worth.
Again this year, with the traditional Ecorally FIA, the 3rd
Nello Rosi Trophy will be assigned, in memory of the historic
founder and
president of the Consorzio Ecogas for many years.
The 3rd Ecorally-Press - promoted by the Consorzio
Ecogas in cooperation with
Assogasliquidi/Federchimica - is reserved to press and media, who
will be given the opportunity to meet and race with an ecological
vehicle in a challenging regularity road race. As a matter of fa
ct
many "experts" sometimes speak of eco-friendly cars, but few have had
the opportunity to use them in a real "trip".
A 500Km race for the 6th Ecorally FIA and over 700 km for the
3rd Ecorally Press Race. There will be 5 regular check points
and 2 secret controls.
A demanding competition, but within everyone’s grasp, which is carried
out under the patronage of the Secretary of State for Education Culture
and Youth Policies, the Secretary of State for the Environment and
Territory, the Secretary of State for Tourism and Sports, and the
Italian Embassy in San Marino. The technical supervision is dealt by the
F.A.M.S. (San Marino Car Motoring Federation) with the aid of
their Race Officials; the time keeping will be carried out by the F.S.Cr.
(San Marino Timekeepers Federation). Consorzio Ecogas and
Assogasliquidi/Federchimica will give technical and organizational
assistance. The subscriptions, affordable to all, are already open.
